Health Care Records Clerk

The Health Care Records Clerk is responsible for processing patient health care records releases, scanning and indexing into the patient medical records, archiving and shredding patient health care records, and other associated clerical and patient health care record tasks.  Desired Education & Experience: Associate degree in health information technology or equivalent combination of job experience and education. Certification as Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred. 1-5 years previous work experience performing medical records, general clerical, data entry and customer service duties, preferably within an outpatient primary care clinic. Experience using electronic health records systems. Detail oriented and accurate; good written and oral communication and customer service skills with both professional and lay individuals. Ability to work with a low-income, multi-ethnic patient population and a demonstrated ability to relate respectfully and effectively to people of diverse racial, educational and socio-economic backgrounds. Must be a confident, self-directed, detail-oriented individual who can work within a team as well as independently. Strong communication, organization, documentation and record keeping skills necessary.ICD/CPT coding knowledge preferred.
